1 / 4

Within the official visit to Slovakia the delegation led by the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Ara Babloyan had a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico.

Talking about the cooperation of the two countries Robert Fico has noted with satisfaction that the Slovak Republic can be a partner for the Republic of Armenia on the inter-parliamentary platforms.

The Prime Minister highly assessed the liberalisation of the entry visa of the citizens of the Schengen area member states and assured that Slovakia would actively work in liberalising the RA citizens’ entrance to the Schengen zone. The sides also discussed issues concerning the cooperation in different spheres, including the goods turnover between the two states: The Prime Minister of Slovakia expressed hope that in the future the volumes of the goods turnover would grow, for which his country would take all necessary steps.

Talking about the friendship of the two states, Ara Babloyan particularly noted: “We have universal values and goals which we should preserve and further strengthen.” He has considered symbolic the fact that this year the two states celebrate the 100th anniversary of their first republic. Ara Babloyan highlighted the further activation of cooperation of the governments of Slovakia and Armenia which in its turn would result in the deepening of the friendly ties and the improvement of cooperation in different spheres.

Touching upon the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh problem, Ara Babloyan underlined in this issue the necessity of the balanced approach of the Slovak Republic, considering inadmissible applying force to resolve conflicts.

The Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico has stressed that the balanced position of Slovakia is distinct and unchangeable in the relations with Armenia, particularly in the issues of the Armenian Genocide and Nagorno Karabakh problem.

“The Government of the Slovak Republic will end the inner-state ratification process of the RA-EU Agreement and immediately send the necessary documents to the Slovak parliament,” the Prime Minister said assuring that his country is open for active cooperation.
